Physical disability

A physical disability is an impairment that has a substantial and long-term negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities.

People can become physically disabled for many reasons. A disability may be:

  • hereditary (from birth)
  • congenital (developed later in life)
  • acquired as a result of an accident or illness
