National organisations that may be able to offer you support, that work both within and outside Hounslow:

  • AFK: Supports children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support.
  • Afasic: Supports and provides information for families with children and young adults who have speech language and communication needs (SLCN) with a focus on developmental language disorder (DLD).
  • Ambitious about Autism: A national charity for autistic children and young people and their families.
  • Anti-Bullying Alliance: A coalition of organisations and individuals that are united against bullying.
  • Beyond Autism: Works to ensure autistic children and young adults access an education which empowers a life full of choice, independence and opportunity.
  • British Association for Supported Employment: National voice for providers of specialist employment support for disabled people.
  • British Institute of Learning Disabilities: A national charity committed to improving the lives of people in the UK with a learning disability by enabling them to take charge of their lives and become part of an inclusive society.
  • Care and Support Alliance Care and Support Alliance: Represents over 60 of Britain's leading charities campaigning alongside the millions of older people, disabled people and their carers.
  • Cerebra: A national charity helping children with brain conditions and their families.
  • Changing Places: For finding accessible toilets or changing facilities near you. 
  • Challenging Behaviour Foundation (CBF): A charity specialising in severe learning disabilities and behaviour described as challenging.
  • Speech and Language UK: A free online professional development tool which sets out the key skills and knowledge and resources needed by the children and young people's workforce to support the speech, language and communication development of all children and young people.
  • Contact: Helps to support families with disabled children.
  • Continuing Care: Children and young people may receive a 'continuing care package' if they have needs arising from disability, accident or illness that cannot be met by existing universal or specialist services alone.
  • Council for Disabled Children: The umbrella body for the disabled children's sector bringing together professionals, practitioners and policymakers.
  • Deaf Children's Society: Provides support for families with deaf children and young people.
  • Dimensions: Provides social care services for people with learning disabilities and autism, including behaviours of distress and complex needs.
  • Disabled Children’s Partnership: A coalition of 100 organisations campaigning for improved health and social care for disabled children, young people and their families.
  • Disability Rights UK: An organisation led by, run by, and working for disabled people.
  • Down’s Syndrome Association: A national organisation committed to improving quality of life for people who have Down's syndrome.
  • Dyslexia-SpLD Trust: A collaboration of voluntary and community organisations with funding from the Department for Education (DfE) to provide reliable information to parents, teachers, schools and the wider sector.
  • Family Fund: Delivering grants for families raising a disabled or seriously ill child or young people on a low income across the UK.
  • Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities: Works to promote the rights, quality of life, and opportunities of people with learning disabilities and their families.
  • Home Farm Trust: Supports young people with learning disabilities who are making the transition from children’s services to adult social care services.
  • IMPAKT: Recognising the trauma caused by homelessness, providing a safe and aspirational place for people to live, and the skills and support for long term independent living.
  • LGBTQ & SEND: Here you’ll find books, videos and links to help children and young people, especially those with SEND, to understand LGBTQ+ identities.
  • Macintyre: Provide learning, support and care for children, young people and adults who have a learning disability and or autism.
  • Mencap: A charity for people with a learning disability, and their families and carers.
  • Mind: Offering help whenever you might need it through our information, advice and local services.
  • Mental Health Foundation: Public evidence-based, free information to help look after those with mental health problems.
  • Motor Neurone Disease Association: Provides support and information including information on Kennedy's disease (also known as spinal bulbar muscular atrophy or SBMA).
  • National Association for Special Educational Needs (nasen): A charitable membership organisation that supports those working with, and for, children and young people with SEND and learning differences.
  • National Autistic Society: Charity for autistic people and their families, providing support, guidance, and advice.
  • National Children’s Bureau: Bringing people and organisations together to provide change in society.
  • National Deaf Children’s Society: Charity for deaf children and young people.
  • National Development Team for inclusion (NDTi): Social change organisation working to enable people at risk of exclusion, due to age or disability, to live the life they choose.
  • National Network of Parent Carer Forums: Independent national voice of parent carer forums for parent and carers whose children have SEND. The Hounslow Parent Carer Forum is a London regional and national member.
  • National Sensory Impairment Partnership: Website offering access to SI resources, most of which are now freely available, for teachers, SENCOs and TAs.
  • Paradigm: A development and training organisation supporting people with a learning disability and/or autism.
  • Preparing for Adulthood: Website providing support, case studies, events, topics and publications.
  • Resources for Autism: Provides practical services for children and young people who have autism and for those who love and care for them.
  • Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB): Supports blind people and those with visual impairments.
  • Royal Society for Blind Children (RSBC): Supports blind and partially sighted children and young people, and their families.
  • Sibs: A charity for children and adults who are growing up with or have grown up with a disabled brother or sister.
  • Scope: Provide practical information and emotional support when it's most needed, and campaign relentlessly to create a fairer society.
  • Sense: People who are deafblind or who have complex disabilities to communicate, experience the world and fulfil their potential.
  • Shaw Trust: Co-creates and delivers high quality employability programmes and complementary services for people with complex needs, challenging life circumstances or other barriers that impact on access to work.
  • Thomas Pocklington Trust: A charity to support blind and partially sighted people to bring about equity and inclusion in every aspect of society.
  • Together for Short Lives: Supporting seriously ill children.
  • Whizz-Kidz: Provides high-quality equipment tailored for children and young people who need wheelchairs.
