Guide to choosing a school or education setting

Special schools

Special schools provide a broad and balanced curriculum for children and young people with severe, profound and complex special educational needs.

Each school specialises in supporting a different profile of needs, such as:

  • autism
  • specific learning difficulty
  • visual impairment
  • hearing impairment
  • speech, language and communication needs
  • social, emotional and mental health needs

There are five special schools and two specialist nurseries in Hounslow.
