Home adaptations

Adaptations to your home may make it easier for you to use if you are disabled or have limited mobility.

Adaptations may include:

  • grab rails in the bathroom or at the entrance
  • wider doors for wheelchair access
  • a level access shower
  • a stair lift
  • a ramp

We offer different services to help with adaptations depending on whether you are:

For council tenants

Our occupational therapy team in the housing service will assess your needs.

This may result in an adaptation to your home through our housing adaptations team.

For private tenants or homeowners

We have different services depending on what you need.

If you need a minor adaptation or repair

Our minor works team can assist with things like:

  • fixing loose carpets
  • moving shelves to a more suitable height
  • installing:
    • grab rails
    • half steps
    • keysafes
  • general health and safety advice
