You might find it difficult to manage your money.
It is important to learn how to budget your money, so you don’t spend more than you can afford and end up in debt.
Understanding how to properly manage your money is an important part of adult life, and it is never too early to start learning.
You can learn more about how to budget on the National Autistic Society website.
Having an appointee
If you find it hard to manage your benefits, you can arrange for someone to act on your behalf.
This is called an appointee.
An appointee can be:
- a friend
- a relative
- an organisation, like a solicitor or your local council
You can only have one appointee acting on your behalf.
You can find more about appointees on the GOV.UK website.
Having a deputy
If you ‘lack the mental capacity’ to make decisions, you can have a deputy to make decisions on your behalf.
You might find it hard to decide for yourself at the time it needs to be made.
You may still be able to make decisions for yourself at certain times.
You can learn more about deputies on the GOV.UK website.
Cost of living
You may find that the rising cost of living is causing you to feel concern, worry or fear.
This can be especially hard when caring for a child or young person with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
