Sheltered housing is specially designed for older people who wish to live independently in their own flat, but have the advantage of:
- support from a scheme manager
- extra security
- a call system for use in an emergency or for assistance
If you or your partner is over 60 you may be eligible for sheltered housing.
We also offer extra care housing for people who need it.
About the accommodation
Typical sheltered accommodation is:
- one-bedroomed
- self-contained with your own front door
All sheltered housing has:
- central heating
- a communal kitchen, dining room and other facilities
- a communal garden or outdoor areas
- a laundry
- fire safety equipment
You can choose to use the communal facilities or live independently in your own flat with your own social network, family and friends.
You can join in with communal activities if you want to.
Friends or relatives can book a guest room at a sheltered housing scheme when you want them to stay.
