Our collection team will be working hard over the Christmas and New Year period to continue carrying out collections of your recycling and rubbish.
Key changes:
- Your collection day might be different to usual. See: Christmas waste and recycling days 2024/25.
- There will be no garden waste or bulky waste collections for two weeks because of our extra workload. These services will:
- end on 20 December 2024
- start again on 6 January 2025
- Our Reuse and Recycling Centre at Space Waye will be closed on:
- Christmas Day
- Boxing Day
- New Year's Day
Other things you should know:
- We can collect extra recycling. You need to put it in clearly labelled carrier bags alongside your recycling boxes. You need to separate materials in the same way you do for your boxes. We won't collected bags containing mixed recycling. So, in different bags should be:
- You can also order additional recycling boxes if you want them.
- You need to:
- flatten cardboard boxes and make sure pieces are no bigger than 70x70cm (otherwise they won't fit in our recycling vehicles)
- keep all plastic wrapping and film out of your recycling (find out how to dispose of this type of plastic at REpeat the CYCLE)
- keep batteries out of your recycling box (these can be recycled at most supermarkets)
- keep our collection team safe by making sure aerosol cans are completely empty before recycling them in your red box (aerosol cans that are not completely empty pose a fire risk and could cause injury)
- We won't collect extra rubbish. You need to keep this until your next collection or take it to the Reuse and Recycling Centre.

- We ho-ho-hope we don't miss a collection, but if we do you can report a missed collection.
- If you have a real Christmas tree, we'll collect it in the New Year. Or, you can take it to a Christmas tree collection point. See: Christmas tree collections.
