Overview
Any child who lives in Hounslow and is working in entertainment must have a child performance licence issued by us.
This includes infants and statutory school age children who:
- perform on stage, in television or in films
- are in commercials or photography for advertising
- are modelling
We require a minimum of ten full working days before the first date of the performance to process a child performance licence application (excluding weekends and bank holidays).
Applications received after 6pm are counted as having being received the next working day.
Chaperones
A child must be chaperoned at all times by either:
- their parent or legal guardian
- a licensed chaperone
When a child is allowed to perform
A child with a performance licence must work within permitted performance hours.
How much performing they are allowed to do depends on their age.
Exemptions
There are circumstances where a child doesn't need a performance licence, but you still need to apply for an exemption.
You don't need a child performance licence if the child:
- will perform for less than four days in six months
- will not be absent from school
- will not receive payment for the performance
To apply for an exemption:
- download and complete the child performance exemption application form (MS Word document)
- send it to us by email to the address below
