School admissions: Making an appeal

School waiting lists

If we’re unable to offer you a place at one of your preferred schools, your child's name will be added to the waiting list for any school that is a higher preference than the school you have been offered.

How the waiting list works

  • the waiting list will include children new to the area who weren’t able to make an application on time.
  • the waiting list is held in accordance with the admission criteria of the school, not in order of applications received. See: School admission arrangements

This means that your child’s position can move down as well as up following the addition of any applications that may have a higher priority.

Waiting lists will be re-ranked each time a new application is received.

All waiting lists are cleared at the end of each academic year, and no names are carried forward into the next academic year.
