You can request a collection of clinical waste from your home with the approval of a medical professional.
This kind of waste needs to be handled safely and kept separate from other types of household waste.
The service is free of charge.
Clinical waste may contain:
- hypodermic needles
- blood
- human tissue
- other infectious body fluids
Not clinical waste:
- nappies
- sanitary protection
- incontinence pads
With these items, you should:
- wrap them thoroughly to make sure no unhygienic liquid leaks out
- put them in a bag and tie the bag securely
- put the bags in your black wheelie bin ready for your scheduled collection
