Our home ownership service supports people who live or work in the borough and want to get on to or move up the property ladder.
If you cannot afford to buy a home outright on the open market, you may be eligible to buy through a low-cost home ownership product. We provide these options in partnership with housing associations working in the borough.
The following home ownership schemes are currently available:
- Right to Buy (for council tenants)
- Shared ownership
- Self-build shared ownership scheme
- Discount Market Sale
- Working partnership
Right to Buy
Right to Buy is a government scheme which gives secure tenants of councils and some housing associations the legal right to buy, at a large discount, the council property they are living in.
Shared ownership
This enables eligible residents to purchase a shared ownership property by buying shares between 25% and 75% of the home’s value.
They can purchase more shares in the future when they can afford them.
Self-build shared ownership scheme
You can register your interest in self-build using our online self-build register.
Being on the register helps to estimate and manage the demand for self-build properties in Hounslow.
Discount Market Sale
Discount Market Sale (DMS) is a low-cost home ownership product where you purchase a new build property at a discounted price.

We have an excellent reputation for working in partnership to produce new high-quality homes that people want to live in.
We work with developers, registered housing providers and other key partners who provide a range of rented and sale opportunities for our residents.
