Constitution

The council's constitution sets out:

  • how the council operates
  • how decisions are made
  • the procedures that are followed to ensure that decisions are efficient, transparent and accountable to local people

Some of these processes are required by the law, while others are a matter for us to choose.

The Members Code of Conduct in this constitution came into operation on 2 March 2021. The rest of this constitution came into operation on 5 May 2021.
