Apply for a chaperone licence

To apply for a chaperone licence, you need to provide:

  • a completed application form, including details of two independent referees
  • a recent passport-style photograph

You will then need to:

  • attend an interview
  • complete online safeguarding training

After you apply, we will send you details about how to apply for an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Please contact us if you subscribe to the DBS update service and already have an enhanced children’s workforce DBS check.

The full application, including the interview, online training and DBS checks, may take up to three months.

The application costs:

  • £54 if you're a paid chaperone (this includes the fee for the DBS check)
  • £10 if you're a volunteer chaperone

You need to make payment by credit or debit card. We will advise how to make payment after we receive your application.
