If you want a relative or friend from outside the UK to come and live with you, you might need to arrange an inspection of your property. This is to make sure the property is:
- safe
- in a habitable condition
- not overcrowded
We provide an independent assessment of the accommodation to meet the requirements of the UK Border Agency. The report we provide certifies that a personal inspection has been carried out by an authorised officer and gives details of the accommodation inspected.
An inspection costs:
£295.
The fee is not refundable if the property is not satisfactory. You will have to pay the fee again if you want the property to be inspected again.
To arrange an inspection
You must be either:
- the homeowner
- the tenancy holder on at least a six-month contract with an estate agent
You need to:
- download and complete an application form and send it to us with supporting documents
- call 0208 583 6166 to make payment by credit or debit card
We will then contact you to arrange the inspection.
